Job description

Main responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will join a dedicated finance team of four people. While the team is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, this position is located at our office in Gdańsk, where you will play an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with international accounting standards, and supporting key financial processes within the organisation. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations. You will also act as a super user for our ERP system, contributing to continuous improvements and providing support to colleagues across the business. Main responsibilities will be:  


General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee and review day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and provisions.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of the general ledger in line with Polish statutory requirements and IFRS.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the Finance/Accounting Manager in consolidation reporting and group-level submissions.
  • Prepare management reports and provide financial insights for decision-making.

Tax Compliance:

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of VAT, CIT, PIT, and other statutory tax filings.
  • Stay updated on changes to Polish tax legislation and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Liaise with tax advisors and authorities when required.

Month-End & Year-End Closing:

  • Manage closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in audit preparations and coordinate with external auditors.

Internal Controls & Process Improvements:

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices.

Background and skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or another relevant field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting, ideally in an international or corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of Polish Accounting Standards (Ustawa o Rachunkowości) and tax regulations. Experience with IFRS is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Navision) and MS Excel
  • Fluent in Polish and English (written and spoken)

As a person, you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. You are able to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as collaboration with colleagues across different parts of the organisation will be a part of the role. Furthermore, a proactive mindset and a focus on continuous improvement are also highly valued.
