Leading supplier of shortsea RORO transportation United European Car Carriers (UECC) announced today at Nor-Shipping it will significantly slash fuel costs and reduce its environmental impact by equipping six more of their vessels with FuelOpt, the fuel optimisation system from Manta Marine Technologies (MMT).
The agreement further cements the long lasting relationship between UECC and MMT, which began when UECC took part in MMT’s initial research projects to develop and refine fleet performance and fuel efficiency.
The agreement marks a milestone for MMT with the additional UECC installations bringing the number of FuelOpt systems deployed to over 500 vessels.
Commenting on the agreement, Ina Reksten, CEO, MMT, said
“It is very fitting that our 500th FuelOpt deployment is with our longstanding partner UECC. When developing our systems, we ensure we work closely with our customers to make sure we deliver true and lasting efficiencies across entire fleets.”
Glenn Edvardsen, CEO, UECC, adds
“We chose the FuelOpt solution as it is easily integrated with our fleet across different vessel types. The automated system makes emission control reporting so much easier too and we have already seen significant fuel savings with the initial installations. We’re excited to expand this solution across additional vessels, where we’re confident it will further enhance performance and continue to strengthen the strong and successful partnership we’ve built with MMT over the years.”
FuelOpt can work with any fuel type and removes the administrative burden of emissions reporting. MMT’s fleet performance team works closely with crews to get the best vessel performance and handling emissions reporting. This includes FuelOpt making propulsion changes taking into account the prevailing weather conditions and automating speed adjustments on the vessel optimising fuel usage, removing the burden from the crew.
